One of my very favourite places in Melbourne is the Camera Exchange in Lonsadale Street, Melbourne CBD. Catering for professional and amateur photographers alike, it is simply the very best camera shop in the entire world. Stocking new Nikon, Canon, Mamiya and Leica cameras and lenses together with an amazing range of used cameras and lenses (particularly Canon and Nikon), the Camera Exchange is like an Aladdin's cave for any camera lover or passionate photographer.
The proprietor, Mr. John Corneille is a very fine man who is passionate about all things photographic and he commands an enormous loyalty from the very best of Melbourne's photographers. The Camera Exchange is also the favourite place in Melbourne for photography students who know that they will always get real value for money for their course essentials -particularly very high quality used cameras and lenses.
The Camera Exchange is also one of those very rare places where they will actually buy second-hand cameras and lenses for a fair market price.
One of the most interesting pieces currently in stock is a limited edition Nikon S3 (2000 Anniversary edition)- apparently one of only 2,000 numbered limited edition cameras. I also understand that this collectors item is priced very, very well. (I would love to buy it!)
<>The staff at the Camera Exchange have that rare combination of being knowledgable, passionate, friendly, helpful and just all round really nice people. Derek, Dave and the rest of the gang will get to know you and always make you feel very welcome. All of the staff are photgraphers and they know about cameras and lenses from their personal experience.
>The Camera Exchange is a bit like a club where you can drop in, have a good chat to the staff, hear stories about new camera models and lenses, more stories about good second-hand gear that has come in or just hang out and absorb the great atmosphere and ambience of being surrounded by an incredible collection of new and used cameras of every make, model and vintage.
