Re:Schapelle Corby - Could you please do just ONE THING to assist resolve Schapelle's plight
My name is Alan Singer from Melbourne. I am known reasonably well by Michael Danby who will vouch for my “credentials” as a very ordinary and “unpolitical” yet very passionate Australian…. Michael and Iwere contemporaries in Melbourne at college in the 70’s – I pursued a business career – Michael a political career and Michael will tell you that I am as politically oriented and active as “the man next door” – my political activism to date has been limited to voting at Federal and State elections.
HOWEVER, seeing what is happening to Schapelle Corby has touched a very raw nerve with me. I have two daughters not much younger than Schapelle and every time I see Schapelle on TV or in the paper, I imagine that it just as easily could be one of my daughters (or yours for that matter) in her place.
I am appealing to you to do at a very minimum – just ONE THING (write one letter, speak to one of your colleagues – preferably PM, Downer, Beazley, Rudd, Elison etc) to contribute to achieving a fair, equitable, humane and “Australian” outcome for Schapelle Corby.
I am certain that you are aware of Schapelle and you will see from my weblog http://headhunter.typepad.com that there is a great deal of awareness, sympathy and support in the general Australian community to bring Schapelle home.
I would like to think that once the court process in Indonesia is completed, that every one of our elected representatives will be doing everything imaginable to bring Schapelle back to Australia at the earliest possible time.
The time that you can make a difference yourself, personally for Schapelle and Australia is now rapidly approaching.
Please write a letter to the PM, Downer, Ellison, Beasley, Rudd, Ruddock, or any of your other colleagues to let them know that you, as an elected representative of the Australian people want to see “the right thing” be done.
Look at the petitions that are being signed. Look at the numbers of ordinary Australians that are distressed, heart-broken, outraged and desparate about what is happening to Schapelle.

Please, (if only as an astute politician), but more importantly as an Australian leader with integrity and principles, please do something practical, tangible and demonstrable and be seen to be doing something.
I await your reply and your advice on what you think is the most effective thing that you can personally do to assist.
