Letter from $1mill Reward Man - RAY EDWARD

Thank you for Ted Davis, a very staunch Schapelle supporter and activist for passing this letter on to me from Ray Edward.

Ray echoes exactly the sentiments that I feel very strongly about and have continued to articulate in support of Schapelle over the last month - she is NOT clearly GUILTY beyond reasonable doubt - I, like Ray, have not been able to say that she is innocent... That is what the $1million reward is for, BUT, certainly, no-one has yet proven that she is guilty - very well written and thought out letter Ray.

Hello Ted,

I received your letter to day and I sincerely thank you so much. We, and I believe I talk for the majority of Australians, are so frustrated by this case. You and I, and a lot of people from all over Australia who have contacted me, are anxious to do something to try to right a terrible wrong which is being done to one of our own.

I am not saying Schappelle is innocent, nor am I saying she is guilty. I am saying 'I don't know!!' And any one person in this world who can say for sure that she is guilty has access to more evidence than you and I, AND the Indonesian Government, AND the rest of the population of this world, except for those who may have been involved and who are saying nothing. (The whole purpose of my 'reward' proposal is to find Schappelle innocent by finding some one else guilty).

Now, I am not a lawyer, but some where, some how, I acquired the knowledge that under British Law, it is far better that nine guilty persons go free than that one innocent person be wrongly convicted. Somewhere, somehow, the words 'reasonable doubt' are screaming out in my mind. Ted, today we heard the news that nine Australians were found with indisputable evidence of smuggling drugs out of Indonesia. I have compassion for the family of those people but that is where my compassion ends. It appears to me so far from what I have heard, that there's no question of doubt as to these peoples guilt. But I will not condemn them until I have heard both side of the story.

The big difference between the two cases is that there is a ton of "reasonable doubt" in Schappelle's case and, at this stage, absolutely none in the latter case. These nine people should quite rightly receive the full force of the law. Even a deaf and blind mute knows the consequences of drug trafficking in Indonesia. I do have compassion for their loved ones but there the compassion ends. We should use this as best we can to help Schappelle.

The Australian Government should approach the Indonesian Government and say "look, we do not have a problem here if there is a clear cut case of guilt. The Australian people understand and have no problem with this issue. There is no reasonable doubt.

In Schappelle Corby's case, there is great reasonable doubt about her guilt and we respectfully request that you give favourable consideration to acquitting her of the charge."

Ted, may I respectfully suggest to you that you write once again to your local member and implore her to suggest this course of action to the Minister. Thank you so much. Please utilise all the avenues at your disposal to carry on with the fight. Pass your thoughts (and mine) on to every single person you know.

Warmest regards
Ray Edward
