Baggage Handlers, WHAT is the story???

This story is quite disturbing, in fact I have held it for a few days considering what to do with it. Firstly, I want to clearly and unambiguously acknowledge that, like any trade or profession, I believe that the great majority of baggage handlers are good, hard-working, honest professional people who take pride in their work and want to do the best job possible. This story is based upon one person's observations and experience in one major Australian airport whilst working as a baggage handler for a short period of some months.
I would be very interested to know if the great MAJORITy of baggage handlers who take pride in their work and respect the trust placed in them by the travelling public, have ever witnessed any similar incidents to those described in the story below.

So, a few days agao,I was provided with information by a person who previously worked as a baggage handler for a period in one of Australia’s domestic airports and has come forward to speak up about the less than professional “goings-on” that this person witnessed and heard about, as well as the ease with which drugs could have been put in anyone's luggage (including Schapelle’s) for inter-state “transfer”.

This person, keen to relate his experience to help Schapelle, has provided a very disturbing picture of baggage handling at a major Australian airport, based upon direct first-hand experience. This story, if true, must be of enormous concern to all Australians, let alone our airlines and security agencies.

“I have worked as a baggage handler and I can honestly say that it would be EXTREMELY easy to tamper with anyone’s luggage, damage it, send it to the wrong place, and steal from it. I have heard amazing stories of all of the above. I lasted a number of months before I quit in disgust. Security really needs to be improved and the whole industry needs to be policed. A lot of the baggage handlers I worked with are cowboys and it’s a boring job where a lot of damage is done and jokes are played just for laughs. I’ve never seen drugs smuggled but it would be very easy to do. There was very little respect for people's luggage. Even people’s cats and dogs went missing and some of the dogs were antagonised, provoked and upset in their cages. Some of the luggage handlers proudly admited to cracking the”shits” with really heavy luggage and deliberately putting them on the wrong carriage to the wrong destination. Handles and zips would break and nothing was done. Oversized bags would be put to one side, out of sight sometimes forgotten and then left unclaimed near the passenger luggage carousel. It was just crazy. “
